As a mom of two littles, and one of those being very strong willed...I can sometimes feel invisible. No, I don’t vanish into thin air! However, I do have moments where I feel like everything I say goes in one ear and out the other! I’m in the midst of the chaos yet I’m talking to the wall. No more do you see a calm, quiet, and put together woman. Now you will find hidden under my baby spit up stained T-shirt and sweaty workout pants a woman who is losing her mind most days! A Mommy who is short on patience and raises her voice more times than she cares to admit. The reflection in the mirror is someone who spends her days picking up scattered toys , cleaning up spilled milk, wiping up the potty accident on the floor (for the 4th time that day), kissing boo-boos & repeating herself more times than she can count! Yes, wash your hands after you go to the bathroom and use soap! It is in those daily moments that I don’t even seem to recognize myself or even know who I am anymore. Those moments where I’m completely drained and feel my worth as a woman has faded. It is in those moments that I hear a still small voice saying to me…
”My child, you are a daughter of the King! You are valuable, worthy & imperfectly perfect! I created you to be exactly who you are, the Wife, the Mommy & the Women! I have chosen you to be the Mom of your sweet children and the wife to your hard working husband. God always shows up in my time of need like a knight in shining armor, riding in on His big white stallion to save the day! It is in those moments when I feel unseen; He reminds me I am precious in His sight. He sees me, He loves me, and He created me to live my life by design.
We all have seasons like this in our lives no matter how old our children are at this moment in time. We all have days where we look in the mirror and don’t even recognize the person staring back at us. We have the same feelings of nobody understands or possibly even cares. All we want is to be heard and noticed but we are too busy being a wife and a Mom for anyone to even take a second glance.
Do you feel like no one is paying attention to you? That no one sees your needs or cares about the burdens on your heart? It is during those challenging times that Jesus sees us and He gives us what we need most, Himself. He comes along side us, holds our hand and whispers peace into our hearts. So when you look in the mirror, remember that the woman looking back at you is a reflection of Christ and His masterpiece. YOU are His masterpiece! Uniquely designed and one of a kind!
I hope that you are encouraged today & know that we are all in this together! This Mommy-hood thing is one of the hardest jobs there is, yet one of the most rewarding! You my dear friend are fearfully and wonderfully made by the creator himself. Be who you were created to be.
